I've got a passion for fiber. Since I made my very first Barbie dress, I've loved to use fabric to create visual works of art. Not just for beds anymore, fiber and quilting arts are adorning spaces, public and private, around the world. Beyond thread and stitch, you will find me incorporating non-traditional elements such as paints, and Tyvek, and cinnamon sticks, along with a variety of techniques that many encompass printing my own fabrics, or melting synthetics with a heat gun, or embellishing with found items. Please visit www.annflaherty.wordpress.com to learn about my latest experiments. Be sure to leave your comments at my site. I would love to hear from you. Take one of my workshops or invite me to speak to your group. With a family that represents SIXTEEN cultures (and counting)and a variety of faiths, I have lots to share about the importance of working together, and would love to learn about the many ethnic and cultural groups that make up your community. Cultural Cloth provides an opportunity for communities, organizations and corporations to explore and express the many cultures of America through their own membership. Through fiber collage, participants highlight individual cultural and ethnic heritage, while discussing how they came to be 'American'. Workshop hosts are then encouraged to display the works in a public setting to invite the community to become part of the experience. Please visit www.culturalcloth.worpress.com for more information. As founder of the nationally recognized and award winning Operation Kid Comfort, I would be happy to relay how one act of love grew to serve thousands of America's Littlest Heroes, the children of our deployed service members. www.operationkidcomfort.blogspot.com I look forward to hearing from you, Ann Flaherty culturalcloth@gmail.com
