tom wood Tom Wood Lillington, NC Email: twoodart@gmail.com Bio: Graduated from Campbell University with a degree in business in 1972 Owned and operated a business in Lillington for 30+ years. In 2004(before retirement) had a dream of becoming an artist. Bob Ray, a local artist, helped me with materials and how to begin painting. First formal instruction was provided by Joanna McKeithan. This instruction, with Old Masters technique, proved to be the foundation for my work. I can't thank her enough! In 2005 and 2006 studied with Mexican artist, Ana Julia Aguado in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. In 2007 and 2008 studied with William Martin in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. After experimenting with various media, I have determined oil to be my medium. Favorite artist---John Singer Sargent. I am inspired by the young Korean artists with Tae Park being my favorite. My style is still emerging, but as I acquire better drawing skills, I aspire to do realistic figurative paintings with abstract backgrounds.
